Student Outreach Projects

 

Each year, as an exercise in Stewardship , grade levels select an Outreach Service Project.  This project invovles selecting a charitable organization to work with and organizing fundraisers and collections designed to aid these organizations.  Below is a list of the grade level Outreach Service Projects for the 2008-2009 school year.

 

Kindergarten -  Kindergarteners collected stuffed animals again this year and gave them to the Marion County Firefighters to give to victims for comfort at the scene of the fire.

 

First Grade - First graders are collecting pet supplies for the Humane Society.

 

Second Grade - Second graders are raising money for a local wildlife refuge.

 

Third Grade - Third graders are raising money collecting needed items for the Homeless Children Liaison of Marion County.

 

Fourth Grade - Fourth graders will sponsor a book sale, collecting money for Peru Missions.

 

Fifth Grade - Fifth graders will participate in Math-a-thon to raise money for St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

 

Sixth Grade - Sixth graders are collecting money for the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society.

 

Seventh Grade - Seventh graders will host a Pajama Party, collecting pajamas for the Early Learning Coalition of Marion County and the United Way.

 

Eighth Grade - Eighth graders will again volunteer their time and talents at Brother's Keeper, the Soup Kitchen, and Elder Care.

 

Student Council - The Student Council sponsored a canned food drive for Food for the Poor and collected toys for Toys for Tots.

 

National Junior Honor Society - The NJHS collected canned food for the poor on World Hunger Day as well as collected money for Brother's Keeper to buy Thanksgiving dinner for those in need.

 

All Classes -  Each classroom will be "adopting" a student from our sister school, Blessed Trinity, Nalweyo, Uganda. Classes will attempt to raise $150 each, which will pay the cost of a year's education for their adoptee.
